My 1st encounter with LEGO robotics...
In 1999, Singapore Science Centre held her 1st National Junior Robotics Competition (NJRC in short). SciTech Explorer has the honor to be invited by the Singapore Science Centre to man a technical booth. The main aim is to help teams that encountered technical issues with their robots. I have learned so much from the event that I can conduct robotics training with LEGO Mindstorms kits the following year. From then on, my training managed to produce an average of 3 awards a year.
As the years go by, robotics training in schools went through some changes. After some serious thought, I decided to become a full-time freelance trainer. During this freelancing period, I have learned and picked up other robotics platforms while I help other organisations to conduct training. In my opinion, LEGO is still one of the best for learning robotics for primary and secondary school students.
SciTech Explorer has stopped conducting robotics training in schools from April 2020, due to COVID-19.
Being the pioneer in LEGO robotics, I would like to share how LEGO robotics has evolved from RCX to NXT and the EV3. I do not think I will look beyond EV3. I feel great that I can witness LEGO's evolution.
Thanks to the LEGO teams who have spent much time and effort to make learning robotics at a younger age possible!
